"Uh m--maybe we should try not to start off on the wrong foot. I mean, we will have to work together for a while. It's best to be on good terms with one another, right?" At that moment, Sam realized how naive and silly she sounded, so she flashed an awkward smile and looked to the side.
Roy sat up straight and interjected. "Well then, now that we're all finished with our introductions, perhaps you all should get to work?"
"There are plenty of articles and research materials at the library that need to be looked over. But more importantly, there's the most recent crime scene." The woman extended her arm, and in her hand was a piece of paper with directions to downtown Central. She handed the paper to Edward, as he was the closest.

"Sounds like a plan." Edward regarded the papers before turning toward them. "I guess we should all go take a look today. Then we can split up or something."
While he was talking Alexandria took the papers from his hands, and flipped through them. She wanted this to be over with as quickly as possible, because honestly, she didn't want to spend her time playing hide and seek with some joke assassin.
"It shouldn't be long before we find your guy, Colonel."
"Girl." Alexandria yawned, closing the packet she then handed to Sam to look at, in case she felt like. "We're looking for a woman."
"What makes you think that Lieutenant?" Alphonse had a curious tone to his voice, which matched the expression of disbelieve his brother held.
"The victim file. Not a single one is a woman or a child. A man wouldn't make that distinction when he's killing. A woman would."

Sam was caught off-guard by Alexandria handing her the files, and flipped through them, a bit flustered. "Are...you sure that's all you need to jump to that conclusion? I mean, we don't even know what the connections between the victims are yet-"
"This can all be discussed after you've done the proper legwork. Now go on," Roy said, waving his hand at them to shoo them out the door.
Sam gave a wary nod and walked out with the other three.

Alexandria pursed her lips into a frown, but otherwise remained silent while she followed the rest of them out of the room.
"Well, I think for now we should start by going to the latest scene.." Edward nodded his head, walking in the lead. "We could ask around and see if anyone saw anything, if we could get any kind of a description at all that would help a lot."

"Sounds good," Sam said, still holding the papers with her arms crossed to her chest.
The four made their way downtown. There, they saw a large area near the center of the square was barricaded with orange cones. Six military officers stood facing outward, keeping pedestrians away from the surrounding area, and a few more officers were writing up reports of the crime scene.
Blood stained the pavement, as well as the white sheet that had been draped across the body of the killer's latest victim. Cameras flashed repeatedly, documenting the details of the crime onto photographs.
As soon as the officers saw the four state alchemists approaching, they stepped aside to let them through. Sam wavered at the sight. The stench of blood was prominent. It made her stomach churn.

Alexandria lingered behind the group, her careful eyes wandering around the scene, not even bothering to expect the body as quickly as Edward decided. The young state alchemist crouched beside the source of the god-awful stench. Carefully he pulled the sheet back with his glove, trying not to let the red blood stain the fibers of the fabric.
"Oh man.." His free hand plugged his nose while he leaned over, eyeing the wounds on the body. "Well I can tell you that much, these aren't bullet wounds, it's almost like...." He peered over more.
"A sword." Alexandria finished for him, uncrossing her arms. "We're looking for an alchemist."

One of Sam's hands rushed to cover her mouth and nose. The putrid smell of the blood and the dead body had begun to make her ill. In order to try and distract herself from the odor, she asked, "What about an ID of the body? Maybe we can piece together a motive..." The sound of her voice was slightly muffled, because her hand was still covering her mouth and nose.
