After pondering the other girl's answer for a moment, Phoenix nodded once. "True, but then your skills were either growing lax or I was just that good." Phoenix replied stepping into the light, revealing her caramel coloured skin and crimson eyes. Then, hearing a high-pitched whistle that only her sensitive ears could hear, she twitched only slightly. 'Dammit Mustang... You knew I was on a hot case. Why bother me now?' she thought angrily. Keeping her full concentration on Sam, Phoenix ignored the whistle.
Scanning the other girl, Phoenix tensed her muscles and lowered herself into a light defensive stance. Almost immidiately after the first once, Phoenix heard another whistle making her cringe as it was slightly louder and coming closer. "Mustang, you ass..." Phoenix muttered under her breath, covering her ear with one hand.

"...Takai, huh...?" a voice murmured. The voice's speaker leaned forward, her pale eyes searching the scene that was playing out in front of her eyes. Wait... so that little thing is the killer, Takai...? Maybe I could... No, this officer looks like she can take on Takai... But something's distracting her now... Oh, wait; that whistle? She chuckled inwardly. She really should get used to high-pitched noises. Hmm. She shifted slightly and cupped her chin in her palm, bracing her elbow on her knee. The rooftop kept her out of sight, and downwind. That was useful; she could watch the show without any fear of being spotted. If I take Takai to the headquarters, then I could get promoted! Her tail silently beat the rooftop at the thought. Then... Then I could steal that officer's glory! Perfect! she exclaimed in her mind. Her fist met her palm with a quiet smack and she straightened up, leaning towards the shadows. "Alright... Let's get this party started!" she murmured, holding her arms stretched outward; the soft lavender light that came from the transmutation circles on her cuffs illuminated her face, giving her expression a sinister look. A gentle breeze blew through her hair as the shadows themselves rustled by, rushing downwards to the scene of the confrontation, one such shadow carrying its master down with it. The girl smirked, her lips drawing over her fangs. "Boo."

Sam wanted to make her move as the girl was distracted by something, but before she could yet another girl descended from somewhere above them riding atop what looked like a shadow. Sam took a step back, holding her sword's hilt tighter now. This new girl had animal features as well. Just how many chimeras could there be in Central City? And was she in the military too? She was wearing some variation of the military uniform and it seemed that she knew alchemy, so she must be a State Alchemist.
Sam drew in as much information about this girl as she could by just looking at her. Then she decided to try and refrain from confrontation and said, "Listen guys, I'm pretty tired..." She stretched her arms out and yawned with both of her eyes shut. She opened one eye lazily, with tears hanging in the corners of each eye, and continued, "Can this wait until tomorrow maybe? If I don't get my eight hours, I'm just a wreck..."

The chimera alit on light feet and paused, staring quizzically at Sam. "Stalling? Unacceptable!" The shadows paced around her, manifesting into slavering wolves, snapping at both Sam and the other chimera. She placed her hands on her hips and barked, "Just who the hell do you think I am?! I'm not stupid! I'm gonna take you to Central, and reap whatever I can on the price of your head!" the girl shouted, snapping in Sam's direction. "Go!" she shouted, her blue eyes gleaming with an icy blaze. The shadows that encircled her burst forth, the wolves barreling towards Sam with furious rising snarl. "And as for you... You'll not interfere," the chimera growled, glaring at Phoenix. A mass of living shadow smothered the chimera and trapped her within a dark cage, ensuring that the girl would not escape and possibly steal the canine chimera's spotlight. The wolves that charged Sam lunged for the kill, their slavering jaws clicking together menacingly, warning of the carnage they sought to reek with tooth and claw.

Sam sliced the first few wolves that ran towards her in half with her sword. Dodging attacks, leaping and rolling around, she realized that using only her sword would not be enough. She lept up onto a bench and checked the transmutation circles on her hands again, reminding herself that they were wearing from her palms. "Damn," she muttered, "I may only get one shot at this..."
She slammed her hands together and a loud clap radiated through the sound barrier. The air around her hands began turning rapidly and a bright orb emerged between her palms. It grew larger and larger quickly. She spun her hands around, as if molding it into shape, as light and heat were being emitted from it. Finally it grew rather large and she thrust it towards the canines with all of her force. As it reached them, it expanded outward and the light burned through the shadows, finishing off the rest of the wolves that were charging towards her ferociously.
After they had dissipated, she breathed heavily and panted, sweat dripping down her face. She wiped her forehead with the back of her hand and grinned. "That all you got?" she asked tauntingly. "It'll take more than a few shadows to scare the Starlight Alchemist." She stood upright, having caught her breath, and stared down the girl.

Lynne shielded her eyes with a hand, squinting into the bright light. She lowered her hand quickly as darkness took back over the streets and let out a wimpy growl. "No fair..." she pouted, glaring at Sam. She slammed her hand into the wall beside her and created a stone barrier that stood taller than the surrounding buildings and narrowed her eyes. She returned her attention to Sam and muttered, "Fine; we'll try something new. But shadows are everywhere. Eventually, they take over the light. Darkness is everywhere," she repeated in a forced growl, holding her hand palm-up towards the sky.
The transmutation circles on her cuffs glowed mutely and the shadows that darkened the buildings peeled off of their homes, swirling around the chimera's heels again. She flicked a clawed finger towards Sam; the blackness rushed over Sam like a tidal wave of night. The tendrils clung tightly to her arms and legs, binding her tight. With her shadows holding Sam's arms straight out in front of her, Lynne sauntered forward and examined the girl's palms. "Pen, huh?" she observed aloud. She stared thoughtfully at one of the circles and suddenly drew her tongue over the ink, smearing it into a mess of blue and black. A quick lick took care of the other circle, and Lynne drew back, spitting onto the ground. "Ugh. Ink doesn't taste so good, but at least I took care of the problem..."
The girl held her arms crossed over her chest as shadows whirled into her open palms. Lynne curled her fingers over the twin daggers that manifested and smirked at Sam. It almost looked like a fanged grimace in the light reflected off of the blades. "Should I kill you now, or let the firing squad do it?" she pondered. Regardless, she leapt over Sam and slashed blindly, merely a blur of color, herself.

Sam struggled in the grip of the shadows, trying to pull herself away. But it was to no avail; the grip the shadows had on her was strong--too strong for her to escape from on her own. "Damn," she said through gritted teeth, growling as she tried pulling more and more. As the girl's tongue trailed across her palms, she flinched and a chill ran down her spine. "Ecch, gross!" she said as the saliva ran down her hands.
As the girl slashed at her, she felt a sharp pain on her left shoulder. She winced, looking down at the source of the pain to see a slightly deep cut lingering there. The blood poured from the cut rapidly and began to show through her jacket. "Damn," she said, "I like this jacket. That's gonna stain..." She looked up at the girl and smirked, trying to seem unaffected by the wound. All the while, she was trying to find some way to escape.

Lynne fell to the ground with a laugh and spun her daggers on her fingers. "Can't escape, hmm? Good. Then I might as well introduce myself, before you say 'hi' to Fuhrer Bradley for me- My name is Lynette Freeman, the Dancing Shadow Alchemist. And you, my prisoner, are going goodnight. Sweet dreams," she said in a honey-coated growl, simply knocking the butt of one of her daggers heavily against the base of Sam's neck.

((It's good! It's always good to have someone join, so this'll be interesting! ^^))
Hearing the rush of wind and shadows from behind her, Phoenix took in a sharp breath of air through her nose and she automatically knew who it was. "You..." she uttered begrudgingly turning about and transmuted a rather large wall made of street using alchemy that was a brand similar to Major Armstrong's with a catlike hiss. "You stay back you stupid dog. The Nightwalker alchemist will take this win as her own." Phoenix stated as she turned back to Sam and dropping back into her defensive stance, crackles of blue-green alchemic light dancing across her auto mail hands and claws. "Well, ladies, it's your moves." she uttered in a challenging tone.

"What the--guh!" she grunted as the girl knocked her roughly on the base of her neck. "Ugh..." she groaned as everything started spinning. She tried to stay awake, but everything was getting fuzzy. "Y--you bitch..." she groaned quietly as blackness consumed her sight and she was unconscious. The shadows kept their grip on her as she dangled in mid-air and her head fell limp.

Noting Sam going down, Phoenix growled from where she was rooted. "Why you!" she cried, rushing forward towards the other girl and transmuting her claws much larger than they were before. Taking a miniscule survey of her auto mail, Phoenix noted that it had to be serviced- and soon as she saw the metal was wearing thin. Placing herself between both Sam and Lynne, Phoenix bared her fangs menacingly. "She is mine, you dumb mutt." she muttered and braced herself for anything.

(( y u say dat, sam ):
xD This is getting really fun! Sorry for posting so much without you, Inu D: ))
Lynne snarled and crouched, her lips drawing over her fangs. "The girl's mine, and you'd better get out of the way!" she spat, lunging forward. Shadows swirled forth to harden over her claws, reinforcing them to dagger-like razors. Raising her hand for the strike, she faked out and delivered a sharp kick to the cat chimera's stomach, knocking her halfway across the street. She snorted and stood her ground in front of her prize, ears flattened, baring her fangs menacingly. Just for good measure, she called more shadows to entwine themselves around Sam, keeping her securely locked.

((It's cool X3 Yus, this relly is getting fun!))
Flying backwards with a slightly pained yowl, Phoenix landed skidding on her knee. Baring her teeth, Phoenix gave a roar of frustration and anger. "That girl was MINE! I didn't follow her about and engage her for nothing!" Phoenix spat as she lunged forward, not noting she was bleeding from her side from the shadows' attacks.

(( *spins* ))
"Doesn't matter! The key word in that last sentence: was. She's mine now, and you'll have nothing more to do with her," Lynne growled. She leapt forth to defend her catch with tooth and nail, her claws gleaming sickly in the moonlight. The two met and she furiously clawed at Phoenix, dancing away before the other girl could get a hit in. In, slash, out; in, slash, out. Lynne kept meticulously close to to Sam. She's not getting Takai, and that's final.

Smirking as she drug the other girl to the ground, Phoenix gave another snarl. Noting Lynne's attack pattern, Phoenix managed to dodge a good majority of her attacks with her crimson eyes sparkling. "Yours?! As if! The Nightwalker alchemist doesn't know the word defeat!" Phoenix scoffed as she laughed herself once more at Lynne, even though her only attack pattern was based on attacking and little on defense.
